This IDC study (which is a translation of Japanese report IDC #J8230109) analyzes trends in the Japan IP VPN service market for 2007-2008, and forecasts the 2009-2012 market for the IP VPN (standard), light VPN, and Internet VPN segments. In the IP VPN market, light VPN is currently experiencing particularly rapid growth. Furthermore, some providers are offering mobile broadband as MVNOs as part of their lineup of access lines, and are planning proactive initiatives to meet demand. "In order to promote the use of flat-rate mobile broadband lines in VPNs, telecom carriers should cooperate closely with vendors of supplementary products such as terminals, applications, and security products, and develop solutions to meet the demands of segments with strong needs," analyzes Yoko Ono, Senior Market Analyst, Communications, IDC, Japan.
