School Emergency Notification SystemsPublished by: Faulkner Information Services Published: Apr. 1, 2009 - 9 Pages Table of Contents
AbstractSchool Emergency Notification Systems (ENS), or the lack thereof, have made headlines for at least the past 10 years, beginning with the Columbine High shootings in 1999. While such tragedies make headlines and bring pressure to bear on schools at all levels to protect students and staff, in actuality, threats to educational communities occur on almost a daily basis somewhere in the US or around the world. ENSs have been developed to warn of all threats using multiple modes of communication from the public address system and loudspeakers to cellphones, text messaging, and email and almost any other form of existing communications. With ongoing threats well established, demand for the systems continues to rise and is spreading to other areas of our society such as healthcare facilities and even private businesses. This report discusses the need for the multi-modal systems, the different needs of K-12 and campus systems, lists some system vendors, and provides some recommendations to follow when choosing a system.Get Full Details About This Report >> |
