This survey (which is a translation of the Japanese report IDC #8110115,) analyzes revenue of Japan storage utility services market in 2007 forecasts revenue from 2008 to 2012. IDC analyzes and forecasts the storage utility services based on their service type and connection type. The service types are further classified into "Outsourcing of primary data" and "backup and archive service". And the connection types are further classified into "datacenter connection" and "internet/remote connection".

Yasusuke Suzuki, research manger, Storage Systems, IDC Japan says "the storage ASP services in Japan storage utilities services market in 2007 enjoyed a robust growth, while datacenter storage on-demand services registered a low growth. It is expected that the storage ASP service will continue to grow under the background of a social request to strengthen the security. As a result, its market expansion is expected in the future.
