In addition, it also includes market forecasts for the subregion between 2009 and 2013. "In 2008, 7.9 million servers were installed in Western Europe, up 6% on 2007. However, the forecast decrease in shipments and revenue for 2009, due to the combined effects of macroeconomic factors and x86 virtualization, will lead to a shrink in the installed base and in the global asset value in the region well beyond 2009," said Giorgio Nebuloni, research analyst with IDC European Systems and Infrastructure Solutions.
