Abstract

This IDC study is based on a section of the Asia/Pacific Software Survey, 2009, in which IDC interviewed key executives in Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) or APEJ to find out the sentiments and adoption plans associated with customer relationship management (CRM) software-as-a-service (SaaS) solutions. This study aims to find familiarity of the respondents with SaaS and the benefits that are associated with using SaaS. This study also deeps dive into the CRM applications.

"A large percentage of respondents in Australia are not familiar with SaaS, unlike in the People's Republic of China (PRC) which has the highest number of respondents that are familiar with SaaS and are currently using or subscribing it for some of their software solutions," says Sheila Lam, senior market analyst, Enterprise Applications, IDC Asia/Pacific. "On a geographical analysis, developing countries like India and the PRC indicated a higher interest to migrate their on-premise applications to SaaS. However, concerns on security, performance, and licensing methodology are hindering organizations from implementing SaaS solutions," she adds.
