AbstractPoland’s domestic consumer electronics devices market, defined as including computing devices, mobile handsets, and video audio and gaming products, was estimated to be worth around US$6.5bn in 2008.Despite an anticipated slowdown in AV and handset sales in 2009 and 2010, overall spending is expected to increase to US$8.7bn by 2013, driven by expanding PC penetration and growth in some product categories such as LCD TV sets and notebook computers. Computers Computer hardware accounted for around 51% of Poland’s consumer electronics spending in 2008, due to demand from key verticals such as government and military. BMI forecasts Poland’s domestic market computer sales (including notebooks and accessories) of US$3.2bn in 2009, up from US$2.7bn in 2008. Computer hardware CAGR for the 2008-2013 period is forecast at about 11%, driven by sales of notebooks and netbooks. AV Devices AV devices accounted for around 32% of Poland’s consumer electronics spending in 2008. Poland’s domestic AV device market was estimated at US$2.1bn. Due to declining total sales of video products, a negative CAGR of -1% is projected for 2008-2013, despite continued growth in the digital TV set category. Mobile Handsets Mobile handset sales accounted for around 17% of Poland’s consumer electronics spending in 2008. Polish market handset sales are expected to grow at a CAGR of 3% to US$1.25bn in 2013, as mobile subscriber penetration reaches 126%.
