AbstractPakistan’s domestic consumer electronics devices market, defined as including computing devices, mobile handsets, and video audio and gaming products, was estimated to be worth around US$1.35bn in 2008. Despite current economic and political headwinds, this is expected to increase to US$2.1bn by 2013, driven by growing affordability of key products.Computers Computers accounted for around 18% of Pakistan consumer electronics spending in 2008. BMI forecasts Pakistan domestic market computer sales (including notebooks and accessories) of US$238mn in 2009, up from US$220mn in 2008. Computer hardware CAGR for the 2008-2013 period will be around 12%, with the corporate and SME segment accounting for above 50% of sales. AV Devices AV devices accounted for around 32% of Pakistan consumer electronics spending in 2008. Pakistan’s domestic AV device market was estimated at US$438mn. The market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 15% between 2008-2013, to a value of US$883mn in that year. Mobile Handsets Pakistan mobile handset sales accounted for around 49% of India consumer electronics spending in 2008. Pakistan market handset sales are expected to grow at a CAGR of 4% to 16.8mn units in 2013, as mobile subscriber penetration reaches 70%.
