AbstractCroatia’s domestic consumer electronics devices market, defined as including computing devices, mobile handsets and video audio and gaming products, was estimated to be worth around US$1.1bn in 2008. Despite projected negative private consumption growth in 2009, demand is forecast to increase at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8% to US$1.7bn by 2013, driven by rising incomes and growing popularity of notebook computers, 3G handsets, LCD TV sets, digital cameras and other key products.Computers Computer hardware accounted for around 62% of Croatian consumer electronics spending in 2008 and will continue to be the largest product segment. BMI forecasts Croatian domestic market computer sales (including notebooks and accessories) of US$627mn in 2009, up from US$566mn in 2008. Computer hardware CAGR for the 2008-2013 period is forecast at about 10%, driven by sales of notebooks and netbooks. AV Devices AV devices accounted for around 23% of Croatian consumer electronics spending in 2008. The Croatian domestic AV device market was estimated at US$261mn. Following a sharp slowdown in 2009, a CAGR of around 2% is projected for 2008-2013, due largely to continued growth in the digital TV set category. Mobile Handsets Mobile handset sales accounted for around 15% of Croatian consumer electronics spending in 2008. Croatia market handset sales are expected to grow at a CAGR of nearly 9% to US$252mn in 2013, as mobile subscriber penetration reaches 161%.
