This IDC Insight provides a brief summary of the Marketing Operations Leadership Board meeting held on February 4, 2009, in San Jose, California, with 20 marketing executives in attendance. The morning session was devoted to a discussion of the emerging role of marketing shared services within several IDC client organizations. The afternoon session focused on marketing's reaction in a down economy, specifically focused on the actions marketers can now take to better position their organizations for the future; also included was a group discussion of future research priorities for the CMO Advisory Service.
