Summary

Abstract

TowerGroup estimates that the US market for refreshed teller automation technology, including hardware, software, and professional services, will grow from $152 million (USD) in 2008 to $160 million in 2009 and then decline to $154 million by 2012.

The decline in spending on technology for teller automation is a result of the lingering effects of the 2008 economic crisis and changes in branch configurations in US banks.

The top 25 US banks in terms of deposits will account for approximately 45% of spending on refreshes in teller technology through 2012. Argo Data Resources Corp., Fidelity National Information Services, CompuCom, Harland Financial Solutions, and S1 Enterprise will be "top-of-mind" teller technology providers when large institutions begin implementing the next round of teller automation.

The top five vendors of teller automation technology have become the foremost providers to large institutions because of their reputations, experience, expertise, and strategic focus on serving this market.
