Abstract

This IDC Pivot Table is the Version 2, 2008, release of IDC's Worldwide Electronics Manufacturing Services Forecaster. This releases covers quarterly revenue by region and product segment for all electronics manufacturing services (EMS) and original design manufacturing (ODM) companies in IDC's EMS database, from 1Q04 through 2Q08. The pivot table also provides updated market sizes for the two sectors of the EMS industry, nine product segments for each sector, and the three regions for each sector. For commentary on market, please refer to the forthcoming market briefing presentation. For further information on IDC's segmentation and definitions and for notes related to the data, refer to the appropriate worksheets within the excel file. All figures are in millions of U.S. dollars. This pivot table is structured into six variables:
  • Company type: EMS or ODM
  • Company name
  • Year: 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008 (through the second quarter)
  • Quarter: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th
  • Segmentation 1: Geographic or product segment revenue
  • Segmentation 2:
  • Geographic revenue: Americas, Europe, and Asia
  • Product segment revenue: Computers, networking, peripherals, servers and storage, telecommunications, consumer devices, automotive, medical, and industrial
To avoid double counting, when viewing the pivot table, it is critical to select either the geographic or product segment revenue option in the segmentation 1 variable; do not select "all."
