Abstract

On November 10, 2008, the House of Commons, Home Affairs Committee published its report "Policing in the 21st Century." The report concluded that personal digital assistants (PDAs) will significantly increase the amount of time that police officers spend on visible patrol and dealing with incidents outside the station, and will reduce the time they spend on paperwork. The report recommends that sufficient funding be made available to enable all frontline officers to have access to a PDA.
