Abstract

During 2008 all mobile operators in Brazil are expected to make huge investments in 3G networks. At the same time, TV channels are rolling out digital terrestrial television networks (DTT) in the most important cities of the country. These networks will allow the provision of advanced video and TV services over mobile phones by mobile operators and TV channels.

Although mobile TV was introduced in some developed markets a couple of years ago, it is still a question whether this is a potential revenue generator and which are the business models that could potentially work.

In this issue of the Brazil Telecom Services CIS IDC studies the development of the mobile TV market in the US and in South Korea. In addition to that, the last section discusses the possibilities and the future expectations of this new service in the Brazilian market.
