Abstract

Desktop security products such as anti-virus software and firewalls are a security staple in enterprise-class organizations -- these products are continually implemented on close to 100% of PC assets. The market is currently dominated by 3 vendors; however, in spite of the constant demand for these products, the security software market is changing. The combination of new threats, additional desktop security requirements and Microsoft’s market entrance prompted Enterprise Strategy Group to initiate a quantitative research study to assess enterprise organizations’ desktop security requirements, opinions, and plans.
