Synopsis

Abstract

This IDC study examines the printing and imaging buying behaviour and usage patterns of organisations in the banking, financial services, and insurance (BFSI) sector in Australia, and provides insights into the corresponding opportunities available to printing and imaging vendors. The research draws input from a survey of BFSI organisations, and uniquely combines the results with IDC's ongoing research on IT spending and user segmentation, as well as printing and imaging to provide an in-depth analysis. The overarching objective of this study is to analyse the market opportunity for printing and imaging vendors in the BFSI sector in Australia. The study is third in a series analysing printing and imaging opportunities by different business size category and vertical market.

"BFSI companies, which are advanced users of technology, demonstrate an above-average awareness and understanding of both their printing and imaging usage patterns, and the associated operational costs. According to IDC's research, the proportion of BFSI firms with absolutely no understanding of their printing and imaging habits as well as related costs was lower than the cross-industry average. However, this does not assuage the need for customer education completely, as grey areas certainly do exist," says Rishi Ghai, program manager, Hardcopy Peripheral, IDC Australia and New Zealand.
