Abstract

This plan provides guidelines for employers to protect employees that are at risk of exposure in the course of their work with patients with active TB disease or perform procedures that expose them to airborne concentrations of M. tuberculosis. These occupational groups are at greatest risk of contracting TB on the job: health care, nursing homes, homeless shelters, hospices, correctional facilities, laboratories, physicians' offices, police and public safety. Tuberculosis is a well-recognized occupational hazard.
