Optimer is a biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery, development and global commercialization of anti-infective products for the treatment of serious infectious diseases. The Company currently has two late stage anti-infective product candidates, OPT-80 (Difimicin) and Prulifloxacin, at Phase III trials.

Optimer in-licensed Difimicin from Par Pharmaceuticals and Prulifloxacin from Nippon Shinyaku. In addition, the company has acquired OPopS technology from The Scripps Research Institute. Utilizing the OPopS technology the company is developing Difimicin and other internal products. Optimer recognized its historical revenues from 2004. During 2004-2006, total revenue growth was nearly constant derived from sole revenue stream, license fees, collaboration and others. The significant decline in revenues from $2 in 2005 to $1 million in 2006 was due to the lowered Small Business Innovation Research Program (SBIR) grants. Optimer’s total revenues during 2006-2010 are forecasted with an absolute growth of +$97 million with sales increasing from $1 million to $98 million grows at a CAGR of 21%. The increase was primarily due to the forecasted revenues from Difimicin and Prulifloxacin.
