AbstractOver the past decade, image-guided surgery has become a recognized standard of care in the management of a number of cranial, otorhinolaryngologic, spine, orthopedic, and cardiovascular disorders. In many cases, image-guided surgery offers significant clinical advantages over standard surgical techniques, which may result in better procedural outcomes, fewer readmissions and revisions, potential reduction in overall treatment cost, reduced complications, and shorter hospital stays and recovery times.
In 2006, U.S. sales of image-guided surgery and surgical navigation systems totaled approximately $1.4 billion; over the forecast period covered by this report, sales of these systems are expected to increase at a compound annual rate of 5.9%, reaching approximately $1.9 billion in the year 2011. In 2006, approximately 21.8 million procedures involving image-guided systems were performed in the U.S.; over the forecast period covered by this report, the number of these procedures is expected to increase at a compound annual rate of 4.0%, reaching approximately 26.5 million in the year 2011.
This new report from Medtech Insight includes analyses of products, technologies, current and forecast markets, competitors, and opportunities in the U.S. market for diagnostic and therapeutic prostate disorder management products.
