Remy Cointreau has a leading market position in several segments. It is the second largest cognac producer in the world, with a market share of 14.8% in fiscal 2007. The group's champagne brand, Piper-Heidsieck, is third largest-selling champagne brand worldwide. Piper-Heidsieck is the leading brand in France, Germany, Belgium, the UK, and the US. The group has a wide geographic presence. It is one of the principal operators in the world market for wines and spirits, with a portfolio of international premium brands marketed in over 150 countries. It's key markets include the US, the UK, Japan and France. Also, revenues of the group are diversified in terms of markets and geographic regions. In November 2006, Remy Cointreau announced the cancellation of the Maxxium distribution agreement with effect from 30 March 2009. This strategic decision would enable Remy Cointreau to adopt new distribution alternatives for priority markets such as Asia and Europe.
