Abstract

In 3Q07, worldwide Wi-Fi revenue increased by 13% Year-over-Year (YoY), up from $1 billion in 3Q06. Quarter-over-Quarter (QoQ) revenue was up by 9%. After a decrease of 1 million units in 2Q07, total Wi-Fi unit shipments increased approximately 1.4 million, enhanced by a strong back-to-school season. Total worldwide Wi-Fi revenue for 3Q07 reached $1.1 billion.

802.11g, multimode and draft-n access points, and router shipments have all increased in 3Q07. With draft 2.0 products readily shipping and the final standard expected by the end of 2008, draft-n continued to show the largest gains with 30% QoQ growth. Although not as rapid as draft-n, 802.11g saw a solid QoQ increase of 12%. Following a strong 2Q07, multimode continued its growth in the enterprise market providing a 10% QoQ growth.

This report examines the WLAN market for 3Q07. Market shares for enterprise and SOHO/consumer vendors are provided, based on unit shipments and manufacturers' revenue for the quarter. The data is segmented by air standard and equipment form factor.
