Abstract

At SMi’s Inaugural Ballistic Missile Defence conference you will be able to develop your awareness of the present and future developments in this cutting edge topic. The BMD threat to allied forces deployed in theatre, and even national centres at home, is mounting continuously. This is an area that covers air, land, sea and space; and ranges from theatre security to global protection. The United States plans to deploy prototype systems this year, and both Israel and Japan are enthusiastic supporters of protection from the BMD threat: other nations will undoubtedly follow suit.

The two-day event is aimed at bringing together military commanders and industry leaders in a setting to enable in depth discussion of future developments within the spectrum of missile defence. It will develop presentations on interception technologies and strategies, C2 requirements and surveillance and detection technology.

In addition to providing a forum for senior delegations, the conference will attract representatives from across Europe, including those countries presently involved in preliminary studies for a NATO BMD system.

Benefits of Attending:

  • IDENTIFY the technological challenges, and solutions, concerned with boost phase, mid-course and terminal phase interceptions
  • EXAMINE the dangers and answers to continued proliferation
  • EVALUATE the respective advantages and prospects of naval and land-based missile defence programmes
  • APPRAISE the political dimensions to missile defence
  • RAISE your profile in this high technology and high investment sphere

A unique opportunity to learn from the leading military and industry experts including:

  • Lieutenant General Larry Dodgen, Commanding General, Space and Missile Defense Command, US Army
  • Brigadier General John Maluda, Director, Single Integrated Air Picture System Engineering Task Force, US Air Force
  • Rear Admiral Kathleen Paige, Program Director, Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense, Missile Defense Agency
  • Colonel Jeffrey Horne, TRADOC System Manager, Ground-Based Midcourse Defense, Space and Missile Defense Command, US Army
