Synopsis

Abstract

This study provides an analysis of results of the IDC Vertical Market Survey carried out in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the U.K. The results are based on 87 interviews in the automotive industry.

The scope of this study is to understand IT budget spending and distribution among automotive enterprises in Western Europe.

This study is one of a series of studies that include:

Analysis of enterprise solution adoption and investment plans Analysis of vertical solution adoption and investment plans

"Survey data demonstrates that there are good signs of a recovery in the European automotive industry, as almost 30% of companies have plans to increase their IT budgets and significantly less than 10% declare that they will decrease them," said Pierfrancesco Manenti, EMEA research director, Manufacturing Insights. "In terms of allocation of IS budget, Manufacturing Insights expects to see a mixed situation: on the one hand, cost-cutting initiatives will continue, mainly around routine infrastructure updates or pure maintenance, while on the other hand, moderate growth of spending is anticipated in support of new strategic applications."
