Abstract

This Health Industry Insights Perspective highlights results obtained from our recent survey of life science industry leaders on the current and anticipated adoption of emerging drug development tools. Results from the survey indicated that drug development tools are being adopted at different rates, consistent with their maturity, promise, and ability to contribute to near-term development efforts. Although some adoption was observed for all tools, as expected, data mining and modeling and simulation (M&S) tools were found to be at the most mature stages of adoption, while the Semantic Web remains at very early stages of adoption. These results, combined with additional forward-looking survey data, suggest that these new technology tools are actively progressing toward predictable broad adoption across the industry.
