Cards are used for almost 50% of all transactions made on the European forecourt and their growing importance is reflected in the high brand acceptance and relative absence of minimum payment thresholds. The number, age and functionality of card terminals varies greatly across Europe's forecourts with France and Spain having the highest average number of terminals per site and the UK having the newest terminals.
