Abstract

America is aging with historic speed and diversity. The life expectancy of a child born in 2000 is about 30 years longer than that of one born a century ago. Between 2002 and 2030, the older population will more than double, from 35.6 million to 71.5 million, and almost one in five people will be 65 or older. Diversity Best Practices, along with AARP, partnered to present WOW! Quick Facts 2006: The Aging of America, a pocket-sized publication chock-full on interesting facts and cutting-edge data on the current demographics, workforce, marketplace, purchasing power, initiatives and resources.
