Abstract

SMi's Military Airlift and Rapid Reaction Operations Conference will take an international focus, discussing international and joint rapid reaction force generation emphasising roles, structures, equipment requirements and future deployment scenarios. Lessons learned from recent operations in Iraq and Afghanistan will also be discussed, examining how this will affect future airlift and rapid reaction deployment requirements.

This event will look at the changing nature of airlift for rapid reaction deployment. It will consider the expanding role of helicopters within the rapid deployment arena and offer solutions to platform modernisation requirements. It will also address the specific requirements of military airlift and tanker equipment, considering the impact of technology, future acquisition strategies and solutions for technology development.

Military Airlift 2005 will analyse the profiles and technical developments within leading fixed wing programmes including C-17, A330/A310 MRTT and A400M. Air-to-Air Refuelling and the KC-767 Tanker will also be discussed due to its importance in recent operations that have been conducted in the Middle East, highlighting the growing importance of aerial refuelling.
