Abstract

Packaged Facts’ Executive Summaries provide a comprehensive overview of the contents contained in our full-length market intelligence reports.

Containing a snapshot of the overall market analysis, each Executive Summary provides a description of the scope and methodology used in the report; chapter overviews complete with statistical data; a sampling of charts and graphs when applicable; a brief look at the trends shaping the market; and projected future growth or demise of each market sector with relevant sales figures.

The report from which this Executive Summary is compiled is U.S. Market for Babycare Supplies - Diapers, Wipes, Bodycare, Feeding and Pacifiers/Teethers, and the full study abstract is as follows:

Packaged Facts divides the babycare supplies market into five main product categories. In descending order of their retail dollar values, the categories are Disposable Diapers, Wipes/Moist Towelettes, Baby Bodycare, Feeding Accessories, and Pacifiers/Teethers.

We further break out the baby bodycare category into eight segments. In descending order of their retail sales, the eight are lotions, oils, ointments/creams, petroleum jelly, powder, shampoo, soap, and “other.”

Packaged Facts estimates that retail sales of babycare supplies will sink again in 2005, to $6.1 billion through all outlets. (Table 1-1) The projected 2% decrease will continue the negative progress posted during each of the four years 2001-2005. The period’s annual decreases have ranged from 2% to 7.2%.

The total decline in babycare supply sales during 2001-2005 will be $1.4 billion, or 18.7%. The compound annual growth rate (CAGR) is thus negative, too, at -5%, which is quite precipitous for such a large dollar base.
