Abstract

Affected by the fact that there is great potential value in the medicine circulation industry and other factors, the investment focus of the medicine circulation industry in china in 2002 was placed on the establishment of dispensaries and medicine logistics. Merging and restructuring on a large scale took place not infrequently. Dispensaries with normal prices started to make appearance and they had a strong impact on the whole medicine circulation system. At present, the main problems existing in the medicine circulation industry was that more much emphasis had been attached to the size and inadequate importance to the quality of medicine; the over-protection of local industry and the lagging framing of relevant policies also influenced the development of medicine circulation. From 2003 onward, foreign capital will gradually flow into the medicine circulation industry. But due to the influence of various policies, the pace of flowing will remain slow. The future development of the medicine circulation industry will be characterized with eight features including the acceleration of the whole industry integration.
According to the promise made by our country on entering WTO, China will open up the medicine retailing to foreign investment from Jan. 1st, 2003 and to Dec. 11th, 2004, China will completely open up the wholesale and retailing market, especially the medicine wholesale and retailing market. At that time, foreign investors can embark on purchasing, stocking, distribution, wholesaling retailing and after-sale services.
