AbstractIntroductionFollowing in-depth interviews with 100 UK healthcare providers, this end-user study provides IT vendors with valuable insight into the healthcare sector's IT strategy and spending plans. The survey also focuses on providers' propensity to outsource, their infrastructure investment and IT purchasing process.
Scope
Highlights Implementing clinical information systems, such as EHR and PACS, currently ranks as the most important spending priority among providers. In 2005/2006, the majority of available ICT budgets have either increased or remained flat. While growth will be somewhat tempered in 2006/2007, this trend will remain similar. Encouragingly for vendors, there is good visibility into 2007 IT budgets, with decreases appearing unlikely.
