The aim of the survey is to understand CPG manufacturers' IT spending directions, solution priorities, investment plans, adoption of new technologies and mobility, infrastructure enhancement (servers, Web services, storage), the role of IT within the organization, and customer satisfaction. 62 companies were interviewed across European countries. Interviews were addressed only to companies with more than 20 employees. Results cannot therefore be generalized to the whole European market. This study presents results for total Western Europe for: Server adoption status Disk storage adoption status and investment plansIn particular, the Situation Overview section analyzes: Top business computer environments Server adoption status Main server platform for selected applications Disk storage adoption statusThe Future Outlook section provides indications on evolving dynamics in companies' server and disk storage investment patterns with a focus on: Disk storage technology and capacity by functional area Percentage of outsourced disk storage capacity Planned changes in disk storage capacityResults are given for total Western Europe for CPG manufacturing respondents. "CPG manufacturing organizations are moving towards real-time 24 x 7 collaborative environments, and are consequently seeking cost-effective data storage solutions to automatically manage and proactively maintain data integrity and recoverability in order to support business-critical information. Data storage is becoming ever more important, particularly with more stringent EU regulations in connection with product track and tracing/GM labelling/financial reporting, as the demands to adopt RFID and the industries move towards attaining global data synchronization. Server and storage vendors are advised to build the right mix of partnerships with ISVs able to meet the current priorities of this industry to be able to capitalize from the opportunities that are available. Without the right level of partnerships, success will be questionable," said Jennifer Thomson, program manager for IDC European Vertical Markets. Get Full Details About This Report >> |
