The Allied Defense Group, Inc. (Allied Defense) was a defense company based in the US, with a focus on manufacture, sale and distribution of ammunition and related products to the US and foreign governments. The company conducted its business operations through two wholly-owned subsidiaries: MECAR S.A. (Mecar) and MECAR USA, Inc. (Mecar USA). Mecar manufactured ammunition and offered system integration services for purchase and resell of weapon systems and ammunition from other manufactures. It also offered consulting services to governments for the development of manufacturing facilities for certain ammunition types which are not manufactured by Mecar. Furthermore, Mecar USA segment purchased and resold ammunition and ammunition related products from other manufacturers for the US government and foreign governments. Allied Defense was headquartered in Vienna, Virginia, US. In early 2010, Chemring Group PLC entered into an agreement with the company to acquire its operations in an all-cash transaction valued at US$7.25 per share.
