Countries covered: Ecuador Ecuador is one of the least developed telecom market in South America (after Bolivia, Paraguay and Peru). Ecuador had a fixed line penetration of 14.2% and 2.0 million fixed subscribers at the end of 2009. The government hopes, through the newly created CNT to increase fixed penetration to 19% by the end of 2010. We are however forecasting for the number of fixed line to grow by an average of 4.2% over the next 5 years, bringing the number of fixed subscribers to 2.4 million at the end of 2014. At that time, fixed penetration should stand at 16.2%.
