Research Editor
Job Description: The research editor assists the Publisher/Research Director in managing and executing various aspects of B2B market research report publishing for Packaged Facts (www.packagedfacts.com), a well-established brand that publishes across the food & beverage, pet, durable and disposable consumer goods, and consumer financial services industries. Primary duties include creating in-house market research products and working with freelance analysts to produce high-end, in-depth market research reports. We are seeking someone who is proactive; has strong project/time management, task prioritization, and multi-tasking skills; is able to work both independently and collaboratively, including with long-distance affiliates; and has excellent communication skills (both oral and written). Major Job Functions/Responsibilities: • Developing and creating in-house market research products • Maintaining a collection of in-house research resources; retrieving, organizing, and distributing information from electronic databases and information sources • Developing and assisting freelance analysts with market sizing, segmentation, and projection methodologies • Supplying information and assistance to freelance analysts throughout their report-writing process • Desk editing manuscripts by freelance analysts • Preparing/producing manuscripts for publication and distribution through MarketResearch.com, PackagedFacts.com, & Packaged Facts Knowledge Center • Working with internal and external teams to develop and market Packaged Facts reports and market research products Requirements: • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related discipline • 3-5 years professional publishing or business information experience, preferably with a basis in independent research and analysis • Strong quantitative skills • Significant editing/writing experience, with excellent proofreading skills and strong attention to clarity, structure, quality of argumentation/evidence, consistency, and style • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Additional Information: • Based in Rockville, MD • Proficiency in foreign language(s) is desirable • Presentation skills are desirable • Experience in any of the following is a plus: consumer product/service sectors, including international markets; quantitative market sizing and segmentation; statistical or database software; consumer survey questionnaires or other marketing research methodologies; data sources such as Nielsen, IRI, Simmons, MediaMark, Census Bureau/Bureau of Economic Analysis • Occasional travel to other MRDC offices (primarily NYC), trade shows
