| Globalization and increased awareness of climate change are leading to an increasingly dispersed enterprise
workforce. Video conferencing is one way to increase collaboration and reduce travel. However to implement
correctly, companies need to align working practices to the way of collaborating. With enterprise workforces becoming increasingly location independent and enterprises increasingly looking to reduce their carbon footprints through reducing air travel, video conferencing is set to become a mainstream collaboration tool. The Yankee Group Anywhere Enterprise—Large: 2007 IP Communications Survey of 516 large enterprises in the United States and Asia- Pacific indicates that the deployment of video-based collaboration solutions will quadruple during the next 12 months. Also, up to 90% of all enterprises surveyed will deploy a video-based collaboration during the next 2 years. The deployment of video and other collaboration tools is a response to the need to strike a balance between increasing both workforce flexibility and employee retention, and addressing work-life balance issues. Collaboration tools will also play a pivotal role in reducing an enterprise’s carbon emissions. |
