9.1 Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC)
Headquarters: Abu Dhabi, UAE
ADNOC is the state-owned oil company of the UAE. Subsidiary Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Exploration (ADCO) takes charge of oil exploration, production and export from onshore oilfields. In November 2009, ADCO set up an EOR project to test the injection of CO2 into the North-East Bab Field. Masdar, the Abu Dhabi government-backed renewable energy company, supplies 60 tons of CO2 per day which is injected into a series of pilot wells. Following this project, ADCO has carried out a series of laboratory studies and computer simulations to attempt to identify which of the company’s resources are best suited to further CO2 EOR projects.
