This 6-digit NAICS industry (331111) is under the hierarchy of Iron and Steel Mills and Ferroalloy Manufacturing Industry (33111), Primary Metal Manufacturing Subsector (331), and the Manufacturing Sector (31-33). Under 2012 NAICS, this industry will be transitioning into NAICS 331110 - Iron and Steel Mills and Ferroalloy Manufacturing. Its SIC equivalent codes are: 3312 - Steel Works, Blast Furnaces (Including Coke Ovens), and Rolling Mills (except coke ovens not integrated with steel mills and hot-rolling purchased steel); and 3399 - Primary Metal Products, NEC (iron ore recovery from open hearth slag).
