Long Term Evolution (LTE) Patent Report

This report provides a panoramic claims-level analysis of issued United States patents and pending publicly available United States patent applications that may relate to 3GPP Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology (Release 8 of the UMTS standard). The report provides an Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) landscape and identifies, among other things, the distribution of patent holdings and the major competitors in the field. Annual subscription includes base report plus a minimum of three supplements/updates to be provided (at least four reports during 12 month subscription period). Data in the report is current through March 31, 2010.

Our LTE Patent Report is a cost-effective and easy-to-use decision-support tool to facilitate strategic business, licensing and investment decisions, including: highlighting sectors which may warrant more focused patent or licensing efforts; identifying, at the individual claim level, which core technologies are covered by issued United States patents; and where applicable, identifying those patents due to expire and enter the public domain; as well as providing an understanding of infringement risks and competitive threats.
  • The only resource dedicated to determining claim coverage of existing LTE patents and published applications;
  • Over 6,000 issued US patents and over 8,000 pending US patent applications in wireless technologies were scrutinized and reviewed for their claim coverage in relation to LTE technology;
  • Approximately 1,164 US patents, and almost 2,500 pending US patent applications, were identified and deemed relevant to the LTE standard and were assigned to 13 technical categories;
  • Graphical and other representations of assignee, filing, issuance and publication trends provided for issued US patents;
  • Claims of each of issued patent were ranked and rated based on claim scope, design-around protection and infringement detectability effort by patent attorneys with specific expertise in LTE and wireless communications;
  • Proprietary keyword stream developed by experienced LTE engineers and attorneys and refined extensively based on search results;
  • Assignees cross-referenced with LTE relevant patents;
