Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) is an aerospace and defense company, owned by the government of India. The company is involved in the designing, developing, manufacturing, and supplying of aircraft, helicopters, engines, avionics, and communications equipment for military and civil markets. It also provides repair, maintenance and support services for aircraft. In addition, it offers accessories for aircraft, helicopters and aero engines, aerospace equipment, advanced communication and navigation equipment. HAL's fighter planes and helicopters are used by Indian Air Force. It has 19 Production Units and 10 Research and Design Centers in eight locations in India. The company's products comprise 15 types of aircraft and helicopters manufactured with in-house R & D and 14 types produced under license. HAL manufactured over 3,550 aircraft, 4,178 engines and overhauled over 8,150 aircraft and 27,300 engines. HAL is headquartered in Bangalore, Karnataka, India.
