Society of the Plastics Industry, Inc.

The U.S. plastics industry employs 1.5 million workers and provides and provides more than $321 billion in annual shipments as of 2001. Founded in 1937, The Society of the Plastics Industry, Inc., is the trade association representing one of the largest manufacturing industries in the United States. SPI's members represent the entire plastics supply chain, including processors, machinery and equipment manufacturers and raw material suppliers.

Part of the Society's mission is to create and maintain programs to promote the plastics industry’s contributions to society, communicate the value of the industry and the benefits of its products, provide education to the public on matters of concern and ensure the effective communication of SPI messages and information to both industry and external audiences.
