Turkey’s mobile market is one of the largest in the region due to its sizeable population. Three mobile network operators offer services over GSM/HSPA networks, with the majority of subscribers on 3G services. 3G/HSPA is being used to underpin take up of mobile broadband services, which has overtaken ADSL as Turkey’s most popular broadband access method. Increasing take up of mobile data services has in turn underpinned growth in mobile content and applications, with mobile payments receiving notable mention due to the country’s relatively young population and high credit card penetration.
