Introduction:

The North American facial injectable market, comprising revenues from the sale of botulinum toxin (BTX) and dermal filler products-including hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal fillers and particle and polymer fillers (PPF)-in the US and Canada, experienced strong postrecession recovery in 2010. Through 2015, market gains will accelerate as disposable incomes increase and consumer demand for anti-aging treatments climbs. Entry of new products will stimulate sales through improved product selection and increased public awareness; however, subsequent competitive pricing pressures will see average selling prices (ASPs) decline, thus curbing market expansion. Nevertheless, driven by increasing unit sales, both North American markets will expand over the forecast period. The US market will experience strong growth owing to a more aesthetically conscious population and the entrance of notable new products while the Canadian market will exhibit slightly slower growth because Canadian consumers tend to be more conservative and place less emphasis on physical appearance. This combination of factors will lead to robust overall market growth and North America will continue to be a steady source of revenues in the global facial injectable market over the forecast period.
