The Longhaus Australian Tech Index strengthened significantly by 4.8% (or 7 points) to finish at 152.4 by the end of Q2 2010. This upward movement favours the pessimistic forecast of CIOs based on the Longhaus Q2 2010 CIO Confidence Poll. Historically, this represents the fourth quarter of successive positive growth beginning in Q2 2009. With this upbeat performance, the index is brought back within the 150-160 point range as predicted in the previous quarter’s report. The latest CIO Confidence Poll also indicated that in Q3 2010, the performance of the Australian ICT industry will not only return to, but exceed, its previous peak from the final half in 2007.
