NMR & MRI

The clinical utility of MRI or magnetic resonance imaging, and other imaging modalities varies with the body part of interest. MRI is important for evaluating suspected aortic aneurysm, aortic dissection, postoperative aortic problems, renal and iliac arterial stenoses or aneurysms, and inferior vena caval thrombosis. MRI initially was clinically useful in imaging human anatomy, such as knees, ankles, shoulders and brain.

Now, MR imaging is shifting toward functional imaging, which essentially images the body in real time, much like ultrasound. MRIs are administered to patients suffering from a number of indications, including inflammation or infection in an organ, degenerative diseases, strokes, musculoskeletal disorders, tumors, and other irregularities that exist in tissue or organs in the body.
