Interventional Radiology: market research reports

1594

Interventional Radiology has grown as a medical specialty over the years, as have the applications and procedures expanded. Common interventional radiology procedures include Angiography, Balloon angioplasty, Biliary drainage and stenting, Central venous access, Embolization, chemo-embolization and uterine artery embolization, Fallopian tube catheterization, Gastrostomy tubes, Hemodialysis access and maintenance, Needle biopsies, Stent and stent-graft, Thrombolysis and TIPS (transjugular intrahepatic portosystem shunt).

Technologies that have been recently introduced include catheter-based diagnostic and therapeutic tools, such as rapid-exchange catheters and transcatheter applications, carotid artery stenting and new approaches to the treatment of peripheral vascular disease using next-generation stent technologies.

Since the interventional radiology market is highly competitive and fast-paced, a first mover advantage and quicker time-to-market are the key to any manufacturer’s success. Manufacturers are focusing on reduction of procedure failures by increasing investment in research and development. In this highly dynamic market, product innovations as well as established relationships with regulatory bodies and healthcare professionals are expected to provide a necessary competitive edge.
