The market decreasing until 2004, but starting with 2005 is drawn significant changes due to the improvement of aquaculture sector and rapid development of modern retail chains.

The introduction of sturgeons into aquaculture is developing and there is considerable interest in their artificial breeding in order to protect sturgeon stocks and allow release of sturgeon fingerlings into the Danube River. In 2007, InterBiz Group estimates indicate that the consumption of fish and fishery products will be twice higher than in 2004.
