Azovstal Integrated Iron-and-Steel Works is located in Mariupol city,
Donetsk oblast, at Azov Sea coast. "Azovstal" has an extended transportation
system including a sea port.
Azovstal, commissioned in mid-1933, is the one of the largest steel mills in
Ukraine. The integrated facility incorporates ironmaking, steelmaking and rolling
mills. The main products of Azovstal are rails, heavy sections and plates. Azovstal
is Ukrainian monopolist in production of plates from low-alloyed and special
steels, steels for bridge and ship building, high-pressure boilers, thick strip for
pipes. The major products of the Works are certified by the leading international
classification bodies: Lloyds Register of Shipping, German Lloyd, Det Norske
Veritas, American Bureau of Shipping, TUV Rheinland, American Petroleum
Institute, Bureau Veritas (France), Maritime Register of Shipping (Russia), by
whom 26 certificates have been issued to AZOVSTAL's steel products. ISO 9001
Quality management System has been implemented at the Works.
In 2010, in volumes of iron, crude steel and rolled steel production, Azovstal
ranked the second in Ukraine (after ArcelorMittal Krivyi Rih).
Among Azovstal partners are RAO Gazprom, TYSSEN, FERROSTAAL,
Wagner, Siemens, Duferco SA (Switzerland), Samsung, Metalsasia (Hong Kong).
At present time, Azovstal is a subsidiary of Metinvest Group. Metinvest
includes enterprises, providing complete cycle of ferrous metals production, from
