| Countries covered: Lebanon Local production of commercial dairy products is limited to those market sectors large enough to warrant investment. Dairies have traditionally taken the view that they will never be strong enough to compete in export markets, and production capacities have, therefore, been calculated to meet local needs only. In recent years there had been signs that this mindset was changing and companies looked set to pursue export opportunities, however, following the events of 2006 such aspirations have been largely shelved, or, put on hold. |
