Gary Chen, research manager, Enterprise Virtualization Software, says, "Virtual machine software continued to grow strong in 2008, but the market is maturing in a variety of ways. Consolidation is becoming more difficult as the easy workloads have been picked off and enterprises are running into scaling issues. The market focus is also shifting to the management tools and extended use cases for virtualization. Virtualization platforms are becoming less of a standalone focus and part of a larger solution package as enterprises drive toward the dynamic datacenter vision."
