This IDC study presents the 2010 actual revenue of the worldwide and U.S. markets for talent acquisition and staffing services, comparing growth over 2009, and a five-year forecast. Most of the sectors showed positive gains in 2010. 2009 was a particularly difficult year, so 2010 performance exceeding 2009's does not mean a return to double-digit growth across the board. Cautious optimism is needed until new job creation is firmly on the upswing.

"Vendors offering talent acquisition, staffing, and related services must continue to innovate to remain relevant in the current climate," said Lisa Rowan, IDC's program director of HR, Learning, and Talent Management Services. "As IDC has pointed out in the past, the workforce will consist of a larger number of contingent and freelance workers. Vendors that exclusively cater to acquisition of permanent labor may wish to consider what kinds of services they might provide for acquisition and management of temporary labor."
