This IDC study reviews the performance of the worldwide PC market during the third quarter of 2013 (3Q13). It looks at the market performance of desktop and portable PCs in major geographies, including the United States, Western Europe, Japan, Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) (APEJ), and the rest of the world (ROW). Details on unit shipments, market value, and average selling prices are provided, along with a review of the competitive landscape of the top PC vendors.
"After posting contraction in its unit shipments for several quarters, the United States finally showed some stability and some recovery as growth rate moved from a negative zone to a positive zone." says Rajani Singh, senior research analyst at IDC. "Nevertheless regional performance was quite heterogeneous in 3Q13, with the United States and Japan recording positive y/y growth and some other key regions showing double-digit contraction."
